Our Business

Basic Adhesives is the premier manufacturer of adhesives for the leather goods industry. We offer a full range of “green”, water-based adhesives for manufacturing handbags, shoes, belts, wallets, leather seating, leather garments,saddles, holsters, small leather goods and the automotive industry.

All of our adhesives are nonflammable, non-hazardous and of the highest quality, with more then 50 years of proven performance. We comply with the USA Clean Air Act and the European Chemical Agency REACH regulations.

We currently sell our adhesives in the U.S., China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and are expanding to many other countries.

Who We Are

Coach Leatherware and Cole Haan and many other major leathergoods manufacturers have selected Basic Adhesives to be the sole supplier of adhesives for all companies that do manufacturing for them.

We have a full range of pressure sensitive, laminating, cohesive, and heat activated adhesives.  The adhesives can range from permanent bonds for stitchless belts, to very light tack adhesives.  Our chemists can develop specialty adhesives to meet the unique requirements of our customers. 

Purchased by Yale and Myrna Block in 1986, the Basic Adhesives is a private corporation that maintains very high quality for all our adhesives.  We pride ourselves on our attention to customer service and individualized attention. 

Prior to Basic Adhesives, Yale was V.P. of Manufacturing for the International Pharmaceutical Division of Revlon, Inc., Sr. V.P. of Operations for Cooper Laboratories, Inc., and V.P. of Manufacturing for Papercraft Corp.  His technical background is enhanced by his undergraduate and masters degree in Biochemical Engineering from M.I.T.  This previous experience has brought enhanced technical and manufacturing expertise to Basic Adhesives and it’s customers, as well as a national and international perspective.  An appreciation for quality and service is shared by everyone on the Basic Adhesives team.

Concentrating on providing specialty adhesives to its diverse client base has allowed the company to grow both in our number of adhesives, our breadth of capabilites and great diversity of customers. Basic Adhesives looks forward to continuing to serve its valued customers for many years to come.

Myrna Block was previously employed by Chase Econometrics, division of Chase Manhattan Bank.  She did sales and marketing by Software Plus, a company that designed and implemented manufacturing control systems.  She taught high school biology and chemisty and has her masters in psychology.

Basic Adhesives also supplies the packaging laminating, converting, tape, label,microwave packaging, graphic arts, and flooring industries to name a few.
